Food is something people don’t think much about when it comes to regulation. Again, while I am not an expert in the field, I do have a few opinions. Regulatory rules will be based around sustainability, efficiency, and affordability. Crop farming will be intended for consumption rather than fuels (ethanol). An example, corn will be used for consumption, and switchgrass will be used for ethanol fuel. However, 85%+ of the crop farming must be for consumption. This will be one of the reasons for push to hydrogen fuel, and electric vehicles.
The welfare of animals must be considered. There should not be conditions that makes the animals’ life miserable. With that said, there will be a push to make lab grown meat a financially viable solution. The only thing the animal will need to provide is cells to replicate. This means a milk cow can provide milk while living, and offer cells for growing beef. The same can be for lamb, and goats. And while drinking pork milk is not something that is common, pigs can still be raised for the cells to create pork meat. With the push for lab grown meat, it would eventually offer a much more sustainable solution for the growing demands on meat in the world.
If needed, there will be farming subsidies for essential foods. The goal will be to make all essential food affordable to someone living at the poverty line. This is because food is an essential resource for living, and in some industrialized countries – food has gotten too expensive for some to eat every day. With that said, there needs to be a better solution in Kaldus. Essential foods will include things such as meat, crops, and dairy. Items such as sugar will not be subsidized since sugar offers no nutritional value.
